Mass Ave Study

Graduate students were tasked with selecting a specific neighborhood to begin to study the built environment through different lenses. The study led to a design intervention for that neighborhood that would compliment and meet the needs of its residents. My chosen neighborhood was Mass Ave in Indianapolis.

Chatham Greenhouse

Chatham Greenhouse is the result of the Mass Ave Study. Closure of Mass Ave due to the COVID pandemic has shown Indianapolis what kind of dramatic placemaking can take place with something as simple as closing a street. Building off of this opportunity, Chatham Greenhouse creates a new public space using the Mass Ave right-of-way. Recognizing the potential of urban agriculture in the corridor, the Greenhouse will distribute food to the many area restaurants and residents. The Greenhouse will also act as an event space, creating a destination in the heart of Mass Ave.
